All Aboard!

In today’s society technology is all around and is rapidly evolving. The is where the decision comes into whether we will jump on board where technology is taking us or get left behind. This brings up my argument the younger generations are more exposed and advanced to technology than older generations. In order to bridge the gap older generations must be given the level opportunity as the younger generations. Also the older generations must be willing to acknowledge how technology is evolving and have a desire to be competent in cyberspace. By taking this first step this will make opportunities for older generations to become literate in the computer world. By assuring those generations that technology does more good than harm with proven facts.

 Take for instance the cell phone, without the cell phone two-way communication would take a longer period of time for a message to be transported from one person to another. Many people of the older generations do not own cell phones do to the theory of always being reachable. When in fact you as the owner of the cell phone can control when and where you are reached by simply turning off the device and or tracking settings. The reason for having a cell phone is because acts of God or nature sometimes happen without warning.  Many of us live in regions of the country that are subject to hurricanes, fires, blizzards, ice storms, flooding, landslides, or a prolonged power outage, that mat require a quick evacuation or move to a shelter. “A cell phone is important to get help or let others know your location and level of safety” Adam S. Aschner.

Another reason for have a cell phone is traveling safety, in case you left your home in the care of someone else and an emergency arises if they needed to contact family members to tell them your flight has been delayed. A cell phone is good to have in case of traffic problems whether there is a traffic jam on the free way, just to call to say you will be late for an appointment. There are many reasons to have a cell phone in today’s society. Accidents happen every day that may call for immediate attention for example being stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire or the need of the police. Other reasons for having a cell phone may consist of just being a Good Samaritan to report and drunk driver or a lost child. Sometimes we may get lost in unfamiliar places and may need direction finding our way back to familiar area. Three other reasons for having a cell phone are “keeping in touch” letting someone know that you’re ok.  In case of emergencies you don’t always have the time to find the nearest pay phone it’s much easier to just pull out your cell phone and call 9-1-1. Also “In Case of Emergency” numbers if you are ever unconscious and unable to respond and need immediate attention and someone needs to be connect ICE can located in your phone as your emergency contact.
